Thursday night after gymnastics, Lanita and I took all the kids to the Picnic by the Pond that our fair city hosts. One night a week they bring in a local musician or group. Thankfully, it starts just as Jake, Brooke & Briana get out of gymnastics, so we grabbed some grub and headed over to the pond.
Now, both Lanita and I are far too young to truly appreciate the Elvis craze of yesteryear (trust me on this one - I will not be publishing our ages to prove it). BUT, we both can appreciate some great Elvis songs. Come on, who can't help but sing along with "A Little Less Conversation" or "Jailhouse Rock" (among others). We thought it only fitting to allow our children to appreciate the master as well. And, as luck would have it, he was LIVE and IN PERSON in our fair city. Whoo hoo! Score! But, isn't he dead, you might ask??? Well, we thought so too, but see for yourself what we saw......

***Disclaimer (I am fully aware this is not the REAL Elvis - his name is actually Kraig Parker, but come on - it is fun).
While we were there, we met up with some favorite friends and made some new friends.

We rolled down the hill toward the pond (and managed to not roll off in to said pond!)

There was swinging and swaying (and records playing - oh wait, that's an 80's throwback to Lionel Richie)

We enjoyed our dinner on our blankets and appreciated the adorable little people who enjoyed the music and fellowship.

And, of course, there was dancing

(Do you see why my children adore this woman and why she is one of my best friends - she is seriously an awesome lady)

And, then we loaded everyone back up and headed home. It was a great way to spend a Thursday night and we can't wait for next week!

***It's a 70's/80's disco/dance band next week. Oh the fun we will have embarrassing our children!!!***
