My wonderful boss gave me 4 tickets, parking passes and all the food & drink included for a Frisco Roughriders game last week. The Roughriders are the minor league baseball team for the Texas Rangers.
Roger couldn't get off work and since Briana didn't need a ticket, we took Lanita & Jake along for the fun. It was a wet start (an hour and a half rain delay - who knew it would rain so much in July?!) But the kids had a blast and so did Lanita & I. They all loved watching them fold up the cover after the rain stopped and admired the beautiful rainbow that followed.
Lanita did a great job of explaining strikes, foul balls, balls, outs and innings. She got the seat next to Jake & Brooke and I was on the other side of her, so I missed most of the questions (Briana hasn't started asking that many specific questions about the sport yet - ha!) It was a late start, so we only stayed for 3 innings and even then it was way later than any of them are used to being out and about.
What a great ballpark for kids, though. They have entertainment in between each inning for the kids - Duece and Daisy, the prairie dog mascots, were quite entertaining and they also had a princess race and tricycle races. Of course there was cotton candy - a first for Briana and a new t-shirt for both girls. They even picked one out for Daddy. There is even a playground, but it was closed when we were there because of the water.
