August 3rd: Picking peas

The girls all ran out to Pawpa's garden with the task of picking the black eyed peas. They came in with a couple of bags of peas. Gramma Ruby showed them how to shell the peas and they went to town shelling peas. They did them all too, we figured they'd peter out at some point, but they didn't. They were actually disappointed when the bags were empty!
They each got a pretty full cup of peas and snaps (yep, even Briana liked doing this).
The next day at lunch we feasted like kings on Pawpa's garden. Fresh corn casserole, fresh black-eyed peas, fresh squash casserole and a super yummy ham. DIVINE!

And before we headed off to bed, Brooke obliged Briana and read her her favorite story.

Every one in the house has this book memorized....including Briana.
